Check-in & Chat can provide video visits and other forms of remote contact to people who are housebound or self-isolating in the Stirling Council and Clackmannanshire Council areas, with the aim of reducing pressure on health & care teams. It is a service from Ideas for Ears, a not-for-profit organisation based in Dunblane. The service can be used to encourage feelings of connection, well-being and positivity among those who might otherwise feel cut off or isolated. It can also be used for medication reminders. It is a safe, simple way to maintain daily/regular contact with individuals and will be delivered by a locally-based contact team. It can act as conduit for conveying approved NHS advice and information, for signposting on to other services, and, with appropriate safeguards and permissions in place, for monitoring service user concerns. The service aims to be as inclusive as possible and, by arrangement, can offer live subtitles to those who find hearing voice/video calls hard to hear. Sign language can also be offered for those whose preferred communication method is British Sign Language. For those unable to operate, or without access to, a smart phone, tablet or computer, a safe and simple device with good screen and sound and controlled interaction, can potentially be supplied. With sufficient demand, there is potential to offer physiotherapist-led virtual exercise classes to encourage those who are housebound to maintain fitness levels. Supporting service users to start using the service will be done remotely (with assistance from the carer) and/or in-person by the Ideas for Ears team.
By arrangement. This service can be established rapidly and can be deployed on a month-to-month basis to permit a rapid and focused response to the current uncertainty. Costs are kept as low as possible.
