Emotional or social support
Telephone Buddying service for people living with cancer. We know cancer can be an isolating experience at any time, more so during these times of shielding and social distancing. One of our volunteer Buddies can provide a listening ear to help ensure you don’t face cancer alone. You will receive regular calls from their Buddy: • Typically weekly, for 12 weeks, though this can be varied to the needs of the person living with cancer; and • Support will come from the same volunteer Buddy each week. • You can stop the service at any time. Support is provided by the same volunteer Buddy, enabling: • you to get to know and trust their volunteer Buddy; and • so the volunteer Buddy can build an understanding of how to best support you.
You can self refer using this link www.macmillan.org.uk/telephonebuddies or call our Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 0000 and ask for a referral to Telephone Buddies. You will then be contacted by a member of the Telephone Buddies team to discuss your needs. You will then be matched volunteer Telephone Buddy.
