Information and advice
Local Services Although our local hubs are closed, OPFS is still supporting hundreds of single parents in each of the communities where we have services. We know that coping with the current crisis is having a devastating impact on families, so we have ramped up our information and advice services and still provide local support and a listening ear. In Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Dundee and Falkirk we provide : • one to one support to parents by telephone, text, email, Facebook, Facetime and WhatsApp. • advice on universal credit claims, benefit applications, money advice and housing. • information and advice on money, food, accessing medication, heating and lighting. • help with crisis applications for fuel, food and essential item items. • hints and tips on managing your worries. • ideas for activities for parents to do at home with the children. • up-to-date advice and referrals for access to local services & resources. National Services OPFS provides a unique specialist information and advice service to single parents, practitioners and OPFS staff on key single parent issues.
